Dickinson Wright PLLC Opens Toronto Office with Leading Canadian Gaming Attorneys

    DETROIT, Nov. 11 /CNW/ -- Dickinson Wright PLLC today announced the
opening of the firm's Toronto office, Dickinson Wright LLP, located at 120
Adelaide Street West, Suite 2107.
    The Toronto office will be led by Canadian gaming attorneys Michael D.
Lipton, Q.C. and Kevin J. Weber, preeminent legal advisors in the field of
casino and gaming law.  Messrs. Lipton and Weber deal in all matters affecting
land-based gaming, online gaming, skill gaming and promotional sweepstakes,
and have honed their expertise in all areas of law affecting the gaming
industry, including constitutional law, regulatory law, corporate criminal
law, First Nations law, commercial litigation and contracts.

    About Michael D. Lipton, Q.C.

    Michael D. Lipton, Q.C. founded his firm's gaming law practice group, and
has served as senior counsel on numerous gaming law matters for the past 20
years.  He represents governments, regulators, advertisers, online gaming
enterprises, gaming equipment suppliers, racetracks, casinos, software
manufacturers and pari-mutuel operators on all aspects of gaming law.  He also
acts as senior counsel in advising gaming license holders throughout North
America on gaming compliance and policy issues, as well as advising provincial
governments, lottery corporations, charitable organizations, and public and
private corporations in respect to the gaming provisions of the Canadian
Criminal Code.
    Mr. Lipton has authored many articles on gaming law and anti-money
laundering as it relates to the gaming industry which have been published in
leading international and national publications, and has delivered papers at
numerous gaming law conferences throughout the world.  He is a founding member

    About Kevin J. Weber

    Kevin J. Weber is a business regulation lawyer who also specializes in
gaming law. He has more than a decade of experience in providing opinions on
the impact of a wide variety of federal and provincial laws on land-based
gaming, online gaming and sweepstakes.  He advises advertisers on all aspects
of advertising and marketing law, and writes and speaks on anti-money
laundering issues as they relate to gaming and betting.  Mr. Weber advises the
online gaming industry on lawful activities within Canada and counsels
advertisers on requirements for promotional sweepstakes, both traditional and
online.

    About Their Practice

    Michael D. Lipton and Kevin J. Weber's land-based gaming practice
provides advice and representation to casino suppliers and vendors in their
dealings with Canadian regulators, including licensure and approval of
corporations, executives and employees, negotiating approval of regulatory
changes caused by licensee re-organizations, gaming equipment approval and
financing approval.
    With an online gaming practice that includes advice and representation on

    Michael D. Lipton also is a specialist in civil litigation certified by

of Ontario.  Since 1991, Mr. Lipton has been counsel for the Public
Accountants Council of Ontario in its prosecution of unlicensed practitioners,
and together with Mr. Weber act in a similar capacity for the Law Society of
