Respondents submit Phase 1 Proposals in response to the Nuclear Procurement Project Request For Proposals (RFP)
TORONTO, May 9 /CNW/ - Infrastructure Ontario announced today that AREVA
NP, Atomic Energy of Canada Limited and Westinghouse Electric Company have all
submitted Phase 1 Proposal Submissions as required by the RFP.
Phase 1 Proposal Submissions will be evaluated for the following:
- Preliminary demonstration of the Respondent's capability to execute a
plan to provide the support necessary for a successful construction
license application
- Demonstration of a plan to deliver a successful safety case for a
construction license application on schedule and in compliance with
Canadian regulatory requirements
- Respondent's willingness and capacity to deliver the project
- Financial strength of the Respondent
- Legal position of the Respondent
Respondents meeting an overall "satisfactory" rating for their Phase 1
Proposal Submissions will be invited to participate in Phase 2 of the RFP
Process. Additional documents setting out detail of Phase 2 of the RFP Process
are expected to be released in June.
On March 7 the Ontario Government announced a two-phase competitive
procurement process to choose a preferred nuclear reactor vendor. A commercial
team, led by Infrastructure Ontario is managing the procurement process.
